Biography
I am a Lecturer in Disaster, Risk and Resilience at the School of Energy, Construction and Environment at Coventry University. I am also the Course Director for MSc Disaster Management and Resilience (on campus). My main research interest is disaster risk management, disaster risk reduction, mitigation plans, disaster&development relation, humanitarian assistance focused on education, catastrophe insurance, actuarial analysis, disaster risk financing, extreme value modelling, statistics. I was a project coordinator of several projects related to disaster risk management and disaster risk reduction, such as the Turkish Disaster Data Bank (TABB) and Safe university campus (Middle East Technical University) against disaster and emergencies. I am an affiliated faculty at the Risk and Emergency Management (REM) Graduate Program at the at the Instituto Universitario di Studi Superiori (IUSS) di Pavia, Italy. I worked as consultant in disaster risk management and disaster risk reduction activities at national and international organisations such as the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM), AFAD (Disaster and Emergency Management Authority), the World Bank, UNICEF, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
